Watch out, kids are about!As many schools prepare to break up for the holidays, parents are advised to prepare themselves for potential damage to their property as children spend the summer entertaining themselves, states Tesco Personal Finance.

The home insurance cover provider explains that in households with youngsters, they are the number one cause of destruction, being responsible for 42 per cent of all accidents.

Furthermore, young people visiting other homes were responsible for 250,000 of the 850,000 accidents caused by the demographic last year.

Paul Baxter from Tescocompare.com states: "As the saying goes 'accidents do happen' - and this research suggests many of us suffer financial losses on an annual basis."

It is worrying that 41 per cent of people do not cover themselves with regard to accidents in the home, he adds.

Meanwhile, figures published by the Children's Mutual in recent weeks suggested that the Tooth Fairy now leaves £1.22 per milk tooth.
