A ferry trip may be greener

Taking the ferry to go on vacation may help reduce the carbon footprint of environmentally-conscious holidaymakers, it has been suggested.
Derek Moore, Chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, shared his opinion and claimed that ferry travel is becoming increasingly popular with Britons.
In news that may be of interest to people considering cheap loan deals in order to fund their getaway, he added that travelling by sea may be an alternative to getting on a plane.
"Despite the current strength of the euro against the pound, many holidaymakers are staying closer to home and taking a ferry is a convenient and cost-effective way to get to the Continent," Mr Moore concluded.

In related news, in November last year travelsupermarket.com commissioned The Green Travel Index, which examined consumers' views on leisure breaks.
The study revealed that the 25 to 34 age group were the most environmentally aware and the most prepared to adapt their habits accordingly.
