Brits' driving blunders revealed

05 August 2008

Brits' driving blunders revealedLondoners and people living in Wales are least likely to pass their driving test the first time around, a study by moneysupermarket.com suggests.

New research from the financial services comparison site indicates that those living in the north-east of England and Yorkshire were most likely to be able to rip up their L-plates after their first attempt.

Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at the site, notes that people in their 20s are least likely to pass their first test, while those over 60 were the most likely to do so.

"Younger drivers eager to get behind the wheel this summer may be shocked by how expensive their insurance premiums are.

"I advise taking a Pass Plus course, adding an older driver to your policy and consider buying an older car which may be easier to insure," he adds.

Meanwhile, research carried out by the site earlier this year found that people born under the Aries sign of the zodiac are responsible for the most at-fault motoring accidents.
