Drinking accidents not always covered by insuranceMost of insurance companies will not pay out if the cause of an accident is to do with drinking, says the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

A spokesperson for ABTA said tourists from the UK need to know the conditions for payment that their travel insurance policy sets out.

The survey of hoteliers said British holidaymakers are the meanest tippers, the third most impolite nationality and the worst behaved nation. American tourists were voted worst dressed, with the UK coming in second.

Almost 700 British tourists were hospitalised in Spain last year and the same country saw 2,032 Brits arrested and 6,710 with misplaced passports.
