The average cost of a hobby was £279.79 a year with running and playing football the cheapest apart from walking, which cost an annual cost of zero pounds.
Yorkshire Bank's head of retail Gary Lumby said that despite the financial issues faced by many in the UK some planning and budgeting would ensure people could carry on with their hobbies.
According to figures from the Fitness Industry Association, reported in the Times in March of this year, there are 5,714 gyms in the UK, with over 3,000 being private health clubs.
Five years ago 8.7 million British people were members of gyms or health clubs, according to the Times.
