Credit crunch not stopping foreign trips

27 August 2008

Credit crunch not stopping foreign tripsThe ongoing credit crunch will not stop three-quarters of people taking a foreign holiday this year, according to a poll of consumers.

The poll, conducted by news agency Adfero, showed that 75 per cent of people said their holiday abroad would not be changed by the credit crunch while 18.75 per cent said it could and 6.25 per cent of people were not sure.

Worries about the credit crunch are still ongoing, the results indicate. John Henderson, 22, said that while this year the credit crunch hasn't prevented him jetting off he may think twice about it next year.

An online survey by kayak.co.uk of 1,000 of its customers since the end of June found 90 per cent of respondents said taking at least one holiday a year is one of five important factors that make their lives happy.

In July the Mail on Sunday gave tips to readers on how to beat the holiday credit crunch and save money. Tips included pre-booking airport parking and inquiring about getting holiday jabs at your GP clinic rather than a travel clinic, a move which according to the paper could save you up to £76.

Other tips included not buying currency at the airport and cutting down your mobile phone use to avoid expensive charges.
