Flood cover should be considered
10 September 2008
Policyholders are advised to review their home and motor insurance to ensure that they are covered in the event of flooding.
The recent flooding in south Wales and the north-east and south-west of England has once again highlighted the need for adequate cover, according to NFU Mutual.
Claims inspectors from the insurer have been visiting local agents in the areas reported to be most significantly affected by heavy rains and flooding in recent weeks and NFU Mutual has activated its emergency procedure to deal with motorists' claims.

Sylvia Newham at NFU Mutual commented: "There is clearly the potential for conditions to deteriorate with further torrential rain falling on areas already experiencing high river and water-table levels.
"We urge policyholders to remain on their guard."
Volumes of insurance claims from both homeowners and drivers are expected to rise this week, with adverse weather conditions potentially causing further flooding over the coming days.
Liam Bailey, a spokesperson for Knight Frank, advised people seeking to invest money in property over the next few years to look to London, the south-east of England and Scotland.
