New guide offered to university students
16 September 2008
Insurance company Saga is offering a survival guide for students, published together with the Home Office, police and National Union of Students.
The guide advises students on how to lower their risk of being burgled whilst at university, and includes information on carrying out a security check when looking for places to live.
Home Office figures show that one in three students at university are victims of crime and that nationally approximately a quarter of robberies are through a window or door that has not been properly secured.

The firm says that 57 per cent of men have home insurance and 64 per cent of women. According to data in the company's study one in ten people in the UK live in a home at "serious" risk of flooding.![]()
