Some people do not view driving whilst uninsured as the "crime that is it", according to an expert.
The Motor Insurers' Bureau has released research showing "postcode hotspots", the places with the highest proportion of uninsured drivers across Britain.
Communications Assistant at the MIB Lorraine Preston said that police have access to the information about hotspots and they use it to target specific areas.

She went on to say that the MIB and police were determined to change the perceptions and behaviour of those who drive without the correct insurance, changing them into "honest motorists".
MIB published statistics earlier this month which showed that the area of the country with the biggest proportionate amount of uninsured drivers was Barkerend in Bradford and that there were approximately two million vehicles that are uninsured on UK roads.
Comparethemarket.com recently released information showing that UK drivers pay an average of £31 per year more for their car insurance to cover those who have accidents without it.
