Financially struggling familes offered help
30 October 2008
The Nationwide Building Society has teamed up with charity Citizens Advice to help train 1,300 volunteers to advise people throughout the UK on a wide range of financial problems.
The Financial Capability volunteers will work in Citizens Advice bureaux around the country and will be trained with the help of a £3 million investment from the building society.
Financial capability sessions will be available for struggling homeowners to discuss debt, rising cost of living or any other financial difficulties they are facing.
According to figures from Citizens Advice, money is the biggest issue that their advisers help with. In 2007 around 1.7 million problems to do with cash were dealt with by the bureaux.
Chris Pond, Director of Financial Services at the Financial Services Authority, said that the joint initiative was good news for consumers.
Citizens Advice recently held an advice week to help people out with a range of personal and financial issues.![]()
