Women are 'better handlers of money'

17 November 2008

Women are 'better handlers of money'Women are often seen as the less disciplined sex when it comes to spending their money, but females could actually be better at keeping a hold of their cash than people think - especially when they take a friend shopping.

Head of Personal Finance at Fool.co.uk, David Kuo, says women more are often the ones who look after household spending, making them adept at handling cash and budgets.

Men on the other hand, as they go shopping less often, can be unsure whether an item is good value and can buy unsuitable items.

Mr Kuo also suggests that having another female friend around while shopping could encourage women to spend less.  Both of them being able to spot bargains and help each other save the pennies.

However, a recent survey by Grazia shows women are reluctant to give up their treats even during this difficult economic time. 83 per cent admit they are still shopping for clothes, accessories or beauty products at least once a week.
