Has the Tooth Fairy become more generous?
June, 25, 2008
Kids who lose their milk teeth could well be benefiting from a more giving Tooth Fairy, with the average worth of a child's tooth now standing at £1.22, according to the Children's Mutual.
A study by the financial services provider indicates that this figure reflects a rise of 16 per cent on 2007, up 16 per cent on last year.
David White, chief executive of the Children's Mutual, explains to parents who may think playing the part of the Tooth Fairy can be an costly business that doing so can help them to talk to their children about the value of money.

"[For] those parents determined to 'stick to their gums' and avoid fairy pressure, perhaps they can persuade their children to consider saving their tooth money and get into good money habits from an early age," he adds.
Meanwhile, figures from Barclays recently suggested that Exeter and Cardiff are the easiest places in the country to get access to a dentist.
